Diagnostic Testing for Males
Male diagnosis includes evaluating the volume and the pH of the semen specimen as well as the number of sperm cells (count), the movement of the sperm cells (motility), and the shape of the sperm cells (morphology). Any abnormalities that exist may be an indication of additional contributing factors. If these abnormalities are noted, additional testing may be needed in order to provide your physician with the most complete analysis for accurate diagnosis.
To evaluate male fertility, a series of in-office medical procedures will be scheduled, which may include:
- Semen Analysis (SA)
- Antisperm Antibodies (ASA/ASAB)
- Fructose Testing
- Sperm Viability Staining
- Sperm Swim-up
When a couple is experiencing infertility, a complete evaluation is done of both partners. Following completion of testing, a conference is scheduled with a physician to review the results and develop an individualized treatment plan designed to increase the likelihood of pregnancy.
