IVF Cost Sharing
In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) Cost Sharing was developed to combat high costs and lack of coverage by insurance companies. This innovative program eliminates much of the financial uncertainty from treatment plans by allowing patients to reduce out-of-pocket costs by purchasing a series of three IVF sessions in advance.
The IVF Cost Sharing allows patients to:
- Identify a finite cost for treatment(s)
- Pursue treatment(s) that give the best
chance of success
- Reduce out-of-pocket costs significantly
The Agreement
When patients choose IVF as a treatment they would like to pursue, they will meet with an RHS financial counselor to determine what level of insurance coverage exists. If there is no insurance coverage for IVF, patients may elect to pay the traditional fee-for-service cost on a per cycle basis or explore the IVF Cost Sharing option.
If the patient applies for IVF Cost Sharing, RHS physicians will review the patient's medical records and perform required testing to determine eligibility. With the one time fee, the patient receives up to three IVF cycles (including cryopreservation of embryos) and any related frozen embryo transfers.
It should be noted that IVF Cost Sharing removes much of the financial risk for three unsuccessful cycles. However, if conception occurs during the first cycle of IVF therapy and a baby is born, the patient would have paid more than the traditional fee-for-service. As is standard for fertility treatment centers, RHS cannot provide a guarantee or warranty that a pregnancy will occur.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the program, a physician committee will review your medical history and criteria based on medical indication, age, acceptable anatomy, hormonal levels, viral screening and male factors.
Services included with IVF Cost Sharing:
- Blood tests and follicle scans
- Retrieval of eggs performed in the
center under anesthesia
- Insemination of egg(s) with sperm
- Incubation in embryo laboratory
- Cryopreservation of any excess embryos
during the term of the agreement
- All services related to frozen embryo
transfers during the term of the agreement
Successful Cycle
A successful cycle is defined as a cycle that results in a live birth. Therefore, if the pregnancy does not result in a live birth, it is not considered successful and the patient will continue in the program. The patients will have the option to utilize any remaining treatment cycles under the original plan.
Price
RHS will provide professional medical services for up to three stimulated IVF cycles and up to three frozen embryo transfers during the term of the agreement. Program fees are $22,000 for patients under age 35 and $24,000 for ages 35 to 38.
Discontinuation
The IVF Cost Sharing agreement can be terminated at any time between active cycles. It is possible for RHS to determine that continuation in the program is not in the best interest of the patient. If the agreement is terminated, the patient will receive the refundable portion prorated per completed cycle depending on the amount of initial payment and the number of cycles completed.
