When a woman is diagnosed with ovulation problems, medications may be used to correct these problems. Depending on the individual situation, we may prescribe either oral or injectable medication to stimulate the development of an egg. During treatment we will use urinary tests for ovulation, ultrasonography, and blood tests to monitor a woman’s response to the medication and to ensure healthy ovulation induction.
Women who ovulate normally may also benefit from ovulation induction with medication. Studies of treatments used for couples with unexplained infertility have shown an increased chance of pregnancy using the same drugs mentioned above, even if a woman ovulates normally. Treatment cycles will be monitored for the best chance of success.
