RHS Is A Welcoming Place

Graphic_website[1]From The Welcoming Project Website: http://www.thewelcomingproject.org/
“The Welcoming Project was created to encourage businesses, health care/service providers, organizations, and churches to show their patrons that all are welcome. Our signs indicate “All Are Welcome” no matter who you are. Although the rainbow flag is the traditional sign for gay rights and straight allies often recognize this as a symbol of acceptance and support, we like to think that the “All Are Welcome” message shows your patrons that you support everyone, no matter their gender, sexuality, race, ethnicity, religion, etc. “This flag says that people who have different opinions can voice them freely. It represents anyone of any beliefs, any religion, any sexuality, any color.””

We will discount our IVF services by 50% for our wounded warriors.  RHS will follow the eligibility criteria established for active-duty personnel by the Department of Defense. This program is designed to be temporary and will expire when Congress does the right thing and lifts the ban on IVF services through the VA or when the 114th Congress adjourns, whichever comes first.

For more information, read our blog or read the announcement from ASRM.  Contact RHS to make an appointment or discuss the program.  RHS offers a sincere and heartfelt thank you to our all of our veterans, past and present.

Our First Annual Pumpkin Decorating Contest

12185016_1070528943010559_3179873493348120648_o[1]Dr. Kubik and the physicians are the winners of our first annual pumpkin decorating contest.  Each department submitted a creative pumpkin entry.  No stencils were permitted.  Patients voted on Facebook and when they visited the office.  The physicians won in a narrow victory over Cookie Monster, ET, a momma pumpkin and her babies and the RHS Celebration Train.

ICD-10 Is Here

On October 1, the United States switched to ICD-10, International Classification of Diseases version 10. This coded list of medical conditions is the standard diagnostic tool for epidemiology, health management and clinical purposes. ICD-10 is much more detailed than previous ICD standards, and with it the number of medical billing codes has almost quintupled. We must now use the new codes in filing insurance information, and you’ll see the new codes on forms and invoices.
RHS is hoping for the smoothest transition to these new codes as possible, but there will be growing pains. As always, if you have any billing questions, please call us and ask to a speak to a financial department rep. Meanwhile, look here to see some bizarre new ICD-10 codes.

Congratulations to Dr. Kubik.  She was, once again, named to Pittsburgh Magazine’s Best Doctors List. From Pittsburgh Magazine, “Gallup® has audited and certified Best Doctors, Inc.’s database of physicians, and its companion The Best Doctors in America® List, as using the highest industry standards survey methodology and processes.  Best Doctors’ team of researchers conducts a biennial poll using the methodology that mimics the informal peer-to-peer process doctors themselves use to identify the right specialists for their patients. Using a polling method and balloting software that Gallup® has audited and certified, they gather the insight and experience of tens of thousands of leading specialists all over the country, while confirming their credentials and specific areas of expertise.” According to our patients, “I knew I was in great hands!” and “We absolutely agree, she is one of the best!”

RHS’ 2014 Annual Zoo Birthday Celebration Another Success

2014

On Sunday May 18, RHS held its annual Birthday Celebration at the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium.   This year’s celebration was our biggest to date, with 809 attendees. Former patients and their families were treated to a day at the zoo, light refreshments, and a magic show.  Each child was able to select a “birthday” gift.  The physicians and staff at RHS were delighted to reminisce with patients and see how their children have grown over the years.  The highlight of the day was our annual group photo.

Best Doctors’ team of researchers conducts a biennial poll using the methodology that mimics the informal peer-to-peer process doctors themselves use to identify the right specialists for their patients.  Using a polling method and balloting software that Gallup has audited and certified, they gather the insight and experience of tens of thousands of leading specialists all over the country, while confirming their credentials and specific areas of expertise.  The results is the Best Doctors in America List.  These are the doctors that other doctors recognize as the best in their field.  They cannot pay a fee and are not paid to be listed and cannot nominate or vote for themselves.  It is a list that is truly unbiased and respected by the medical profession and patients alike as the source of top quality medical information.”
